How to play Knights and Crosses

• Goal: Get three units in a row.
• Placing Units: Drag base units (Warrior, Ranger, Mage) to empty cells.
• Combat: Units attack adjacent (Up, Down, Left, Right, Diagonal) enemies automatically after placement/promotion. Enemies retaliate if they survive (unless attacked by a Strider). Advantage (W>R>M>W) deals double damage.
• Experience (XP): Gain +20 XP (can be upgraded) when an enemy dies.
• Promotion:
  • Promotion (Pure-Class): Drag a base unit onto the *same* base unit on the board (e.g., Warrior on Warrior -> Knight). Pure classes retain their advantage/weakness and have +50/15 base stats.
  • Promotion (Cross-Class): Drag a base unit onto a *different* base unit on the board (e.g., Ranger on Warrior -> Strider). These units have +25/10 base stats, lose their advantage/weakness and gain a special ability.
  • XP Placement (👑 Button): When XP reaches 100, click the 👑 button next to a base unit in the panel, then click an empty board cell to place its promoted version (e.g., click 👑 on Warrior, click cell -> place Knight). This costs 100 XP.
• Unit Upgrades: Mixed promotion units (Strider, Battlemage, Cleric) gain the sum of HP/Attack upgrades from both their component base types (e.g., Battlemage benefits from both Warrior and Mage specific upgrades).
• Progression: Win rounds to gain upgrades. Lose or Draw to retry the current level. Defeat Level 10 to win!
• Battlemage Volley: At the start of your turn, each of your Battlemages fires a shot (25 damage) at a random adjacent enemy.
• Strider Evasion: When played, the Strider cannot be counter-attacked.
• Cleric Heal: At the start of your turn, each of your Clerics will heal adjacent (non-diagonal) units for 25 HP.
